Zentral Stadion (new) - 44,000 capacity.
The
previous Zentralstadion - which opened in 1956 - was once
the largest stadium in Germany, with a capacity of 100,000.
The new stadium is a purpose-built football specific ground
set within the old stadium walls. Building got underway
in November 2000 and is set for completion in November 2003
at an estimated cost of 90.6 million Euros.
Getting
to Zentral Stadion
The stadium - Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 105 - is the
home ground of VfB Leipzig and located in the western zone
of the city.
