Southampton
striker Kevin Davies has admitted he is determined
to leave St Mary's permanently after joining Millwall
on loan last week.
Davies
is convinced he has no future with Saints after being
overlooked by boss Gordon Strachan since the start
of the season and has hooked up with the First Division
Lions for the next month.
He said: ''It is obvious Gordon Strachan does not
want me so it would be best if I moved on.
"I still feel I could play at Premiership level
but when the manager does not want you there is no
point in hanging around."
The former Chesterfield star rejoined Southampton
for £7.25m from Blackburn in 1999 after failing
to make an impact at Ewood Park and it looks like
he is on the move again.
Davies added: "I am 25 and I want to be playing
football. At Millwall I will get a few games under
my belt and take it from there. At the moment I am
not looking beyond that.
''I am grateful for the chance they have given me
and I hope to repay them with a few goals. What happens
with Saints will be sorted out later but it looks
as if my days there are numbered.''
Saints boss Strachan has revealed that he has yet
to make a decision over the striker's future, and
said on Monday: ''Kevin has not featured in the first
team yet so it will be good for him to go away for
a month and get some regular football.
''Beyond that nothing has been discussed. He has gone
for a month and that is it.''
Davies is currently behind Marian Pahars, James Beattie
and Brett Ormerod in the Saints pecking order, with
the club also having injury-prone Ecuadorian striker
Agustin Delgado on the books.
