The Reds star is yet to agree a new long-term deal at
Anfield, which seems to have given the Spanish some
hope that he may be persuaded to move to La Liga like
international team-mate David Beckham.
Beckham
stated this week that he would love to team up with
Owen in Madrid and Real president Florentino Perez
is a confirmed admirer of the 23-year-old striker.
However,
Barca now look to have thrown their hat into the ring
- should Owen become available.
"He
fits in our philosophy," Rijkaard told Radio
Interconomia when asked whether he would like Owen.
Barca
missed are determined to put the last few seasons
of disappointment behind them and their fans will
be happy to know that they still intend to make moves
for the world's best talent.
Owen
is currently contracted to The Reds until 2005, but
the lack of Champions League football in recent seasons
has placed a question mark over his long-term future.
Liverpool
boss Gerard Houllier has insisted that he is confident
of securing Owen on a longer deal, but much will depend
on how the Merseyside club perform this season.
