Sheringham says he will remain available for England selection as
long as coach Sven Goran Eriksson continues picking him.
Sheringham,
who now has 51 caps, had been tipped to join Arsenal goalkeeper
David Seaman in announcing their international retirements after
England reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Japan and
South Korea this summer.
However, the 37-year-old insists he still feels fit and up to the
demands of club and international football, and will join Seaman
in making himself available for Eriksson's selection.
"It's a situation where I enjoy playing for England,"
Sheringham told the club's website. "It's not hampering my
Tottenham career to go and play with England and as long as the
manager keeps on picking me, I will carry on wanting to play. That
is still my ambition."
Eriksson took Sheringham to the Far East for his experience but
with the likes of Jermain Defoe, Alan Smith and Darius Vassell all
knocking on the England door, Sheringham knows he will have to hit
the ground running when the season gets underway.
