Litmanen admits he is struggling to remain "enthusiastic"
at Liverpool as he continues to play just a bit-part
role at Anfield.
The
former Barcelona and Ajax striker, who joined the
Reds in January 2001, has never been a first-team
regular under Gerard Houllier.
And his chances of becoming a regular strike partner
for Michael Owen have been lessened by the summer
arrival of Senegal livewire El Hadji Diouf - with
Emile Heskey also ahead of Litmanen in the pecking
order.
The 31-year-old said: "Liverpool are one of the
favourites for the title but they might have a bigger
problem keeping everyone happy at the club if they
are not playing regularly.
"Houllier is the boss. At Liverpool nobody argues
with him and I will not either. I just have to accept
my situation - even if it makes me very miserable.
"I would really like to play a bigger part in
our championship bid.
"If I look at the last two seasons, I have to
admit that it has not made me happy.
"I wanted more out of this move but when you
are not playing it is difficult to remain enthusiastic,"
he added in The Sun.
