Leicester
goalkeeper Tim Flowers is set to complete a three-month
loan move to Manchester City following Nicky Weaver's
injury setback.
Weaver
is facing a further knee operation which could sideline
the former England Under-21 international for around
three months and, with first-choice keeper Peter Schmeichel
likely to be out of action until next month, City
boss Kevin Keegan is desperate to bring in an experienced
goalkeeper on loan.
And 35-year-old Flowers, who is currently second-choice
keeper at Leicester behind Ian Walker, is close to
completing a move to Maine Road although he is only
likely to play second fiddle to Carlo Nash for the
season's opener against Leeds on Saturday.
His last appearance at Maine Road was last term when
he was on loan with Coventry, with Flowers unable
to prevent the Sky Blues from going down to a 4-2
defeat.
Leicester's current third-choice keeper Simon Royce
was on loan at Maine Road towards the end of last
season, being an unused substitute in City's final
eight games of their title-winning season.
