Rooney wins goal of the month
Sat 9th November 2002, 10:54

Wayne Rooney looks like a future star as he scooped October Premiership Goal of the Month.

The 17-year-old striker became the youngest ever Premiership goalscorer when he scored a dramatic last minute winner from 30 yards that had the Everton fans jumping ecstatically and ended Arsenal's untouchable ten-month unbeatable league run.

Rooney, who was 16 at the time of the goal, controlled the ball, turned and hit a powerful, curling shot towards the top corner and David Seaman was helpless to stop the ball from hitting the back of the net.

Rooney, who has scored both his Premiership goals after coming on as a substitute, is already rumoured to have an immanent England call-up and could be Everton's new hero.
