Hoddle Not Happy With Performance
Thu 7th November 2002, 18:17

Glenn Hoddle was not happy with the Tottenham's disappointing defeat to Burnley in the Worthington Cup.

Spurs crashed to a 2-1 defeat to first division team Burnley. Spurs were a goal up before they threw away their lead.

Hoddle said: "I am very disappointed. We should never have let that slip like we did. There were things wrong with our game that are unacceptable.

"After getting ourselves into the lead and being in control I cannot believe what happened. We cannot make any excuses, we were 1-0 up and should have gone on to win.

"We might have missed three one-on-ones but I am more concerned about how we lost the reins of the game."

Burnley boss Stan Ternent was left to celebrate the best night of his four-year reign. He said: "When you consider the opposition this is right up there.

"It is an important win for the club. After the collapse of the ITV Digital deal we all have a shortfall in finance and this cup run will help us."
