McCarthy Quits Ireland Job

|
Mick McCarthy has resigned from his post as Republic of Ireland manager after 6 years at the job.
FAI officials will announce the news in a press conference on Tuesday.
The Roy Keane situation affected his departure after he sent the player home from the world cup and Mick was under a lot of pressure.
Mick has also lost both his first two games in the European qualifications for euro 2004 to Switzerland and Russia.
Former Irish players have praised the work of Mick McCarthy after 6 years in charge.
"He has done what I consider to be a very good job - but the main reason he has gone was because of the way things went in the summer," said McGrath.
'Hiding to nothing'
"You're on a hiding to nothing if you are not able to pick your best player at the World Cup and sort it out."
Stapleton added: "The Keane situation overshadowed everything.
"He's not been judged on results, he's been judged on something else that happened away from the field."
Don Givens is expected to lead the Irish team out for the friendly game against Greece later this month.
