McAteer set to return
Wed 12th February 2003, 13:32

Sunderland player Jason McAteer has admitted that he will be ready to make a first team return for the Black Cats in this weekend's FA Cup matches.

The former Liverpool player has been out of action since September last year, during when he underwent two operations to rectify a hernia problem.

But at the moment, the Irishman thinks he is fully fit and ready for a first team return in Sunday's FA Cup fifth round tie at the Stadium of Light.

McAteer announced his readiness to Howard Wilkinson after he played for an hour in the Black Cat's reserve team win over Newcastle.

He told the club's official website that he feels great and he will be available for the weekend, because the club want him there.
