Ranieri: Kudos to Lampard
Thu 30th January 2003, 12:23

Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri has drizzled praises on midfielder Frank Lampard for his team's 3-2 win over high-fighting Leeds United in a Premiership tie on Tuesday at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian tactician further remarked that Lampard deserves an immutable shirt in England following his magnificent performance in the victory.

It was just 11 minutes to go when the 24-year-old gave Chelsea the equaliser before producing a good run that forced Leeds defender Dominic Matteo to score an own goal that finally gave Chelsea the victory.

If Ranieri words are taken into keen consideration, Lampard will be ready to play for England in their friendly tie against Australia in February at Upton Park.

Ranieri who spent £11million to sign Lampard stated that Lampard's contribution to the squad this season has showed that he is a great player.
