Gresko ready to join Rovers
Wed 29th January 2003, 12:31

Parma player Vratislav Gresko may join Premiership club Blackburn Rovers on loan, as the deal is more than ready to be accomplished.

Blackburn manager Graeme Souness is on the verge to complete the deal early enough in order for Gresko to play in Saturday's Premiership tie against Aston Villa.

The Slovakian defender is expected to travel to Lancashire for health check before joining Rovers.

Souness recently chided his defence for their 3-3 draw with Sunderland in an FA Cup fourth round tie on Saturday at Ewood Park.

And as two of Rovers defenders Andy Todd and Lucas Neill are on prospective suspensions, Souness may be in a haste to conclude Gresko's deal.

Meanwhile defender Craig Short is not likely to take part in today's clash with West Ham after picking up a calf strain in the match against Sunderland.
