Gavilan set to return to Brazil
Wed 29th January 2003, 12:28

Newcastle United midfielder Diego Gavilan will return to Brazil to join Internacional of Porto Alegre on loan that will keep him there till the end of the year.

The 22-year-old Paraguayan international joined Newcastle in January 2000 from a hometown club Porteno through a £2million deal, but has managed only 8 appearances for the club.

It has been agreed that when Gavilan's loan at Internacional expires, Newcastle will now decide whether to sell him or not.

Gavilan has scored only one goal for Newcastle; the goal he scored against Coventry in April 2000.

Meanwhile, last year, Gavilan joined Mexico's Guadalajara club Tecos on loan.
And he has won 24 caps for his country.
