No more Johnson for Boro
Tue 28th January 2003, 12:14

Middlesbrough have recently announced that they have terminated their bid to sign Leeds United player Seth Johnson.

The 23-year-old midfielder had talks with Boro and progressively underwent a medical test, but Boro yesterday disclosed that they are not going to move on with the deal.

The quest to sign Johnson was made sanguine due to the fact that Boro boss Steve McClaren was intending to rectify his midfield because two of his midfield players Dutchman George Boateng and Brazillian international Juninho were both down with injury.

Presently there are no indications of what led to the breakdown of the deal.

Johnson joined Leeds from Derby County with a 7million switch and has managed just 20 senior appearances for the Elland Road club.

McClaren will now pursue the other target to bring both Malcolm Christie and Chris Riggott to the Riverside Stadium.
