Ferguson hails Scholes' performance
Fri 24th January 2003, 12:25

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hailed the magnificent performance of Paul Scholes that ensured them victory over Blackburn Rovers in a Worthington Cup semi-final tie at Ewood Park.

Paul Scholes found the net twice, thus securing United a final ticket to face Gerard Houllier's Liverpool at the Millennium Stadium come 2nd of March.

This became United's first League Cup final for four years.

Striker Ruud van Nistelrory also scored and Rovers' only goal came from former United striker Andy Cole.

Ferguson admitted that Scholes' maturity was the key figure that helped their triumph at Ewood Park.

He further admitted his readiness for the final tie against Liverpool.
