Robson shower praises on defence
Fri 24th January 2003, 12:24

Newcastle United manager Sir Bobby Robson has showered praises on his defence for their 1-0 victory over high-fighting Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday at St. James' Park.

Although Robson's defence has been criticised by fans, but the defence was able to stop Sam Allardyce's strikers from scoring.

With this victory, the gap between Newcastle and Manchester United is now reduced from five to two, thanks to Jermanie Jenas first-half strike.

Robson admitted that the defence helped them win the match, not the front players.

Meanwhile, Bolton boss Sam Allardyce unveiled that his team had penalties but the referee waved play-on and that he just have to take things the way he sees it.
