Upson joins Blues
Thu 23rd January 2003, 12:31

Arsenal defender Matthew Upson has finally joined Premiership club Birmingham City on an estimated fee of £3million.

Upson has previously disclosed his wish to have a first team shirt in his club, which he hardly achieved at Highbury.

Meanwhile Blues boss Steve Bruce also disclosed his willingness to strengthen his defence, for this reason Upson was signed.

Piotr Swierczewski also joined Blues from Marseille earlier this week, making it two signings in a week for the St. Andrews club.

The former England U-21 defender joined Arsenal five years ago from Luton, but his career in Highbury was made sceptical due to injuries.
