Allardyce accepts request for Ricketts
Thu 23rd January 2003, 12:30

Bolton Wanderers will now allow striker Michael Ricketts to continue negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur after the White Hart Lane club have showed interest in him.

It is alleged that Bolton have rated the 24-year-old player for £6m, a contradiction to Spurs' £4m bid.

Conversely, the transfer window will be closed at the end of this month.

But Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is keen to strengthen his strike-force, hence a pessimistic thought of Ricketts leaving the Reebok Stadium.

Allardyce disclosed that he was disappointed and wasn't ready to accept the request from Spurs, but he just have to do that since Ricketts would love to play in a club like Tottenham.

Ricketts is currently Bolton's highest goal-scorer.
