City eye Van Hooijdonk
Wed 22nd January 2003, 12:47

English club Manchester City are keen to bring Feyenoord's Dutch striker Van Hooijdonk to Maine Road before the transfer window closes in February 1.

City boss Kevin Keegan had previously disclosed that he is looking for a striker that will partner Nicholas Anelka, and he thinks Hooijdonk is capable for the task.

The quest to sign Hooijdonk was given a boost after the deal with Leeds United to sign Robbie Fowler failed.

The 33-year-old Feyenoord UEFA Cup star went on strike for three months following a little misunderstanding with his club.

The contract of the former Celtic player with Feyenoord expires at the end of the season.
