Reyna Out For Six Months
Fri 1st November 2002, 12:58

Sunderland player Claudio Reyna is out for 6 months of the season after being stretchered of against Bolton On Monday with a cruciate ligament.

It is a big blow for Sunderland and new manager Howard Wilkinson after he has number of injuries with Jason Macater, Thomas Sorenson and Thomas Mhyre all out.

"It's always a big blow to lose good players but unfortunately that's life," said Sunderland boss Howard Wilkinson.

"Claudio's problem is someone else's opportunity. His credentials are there for all to see but for the immediate and mid-term future he will not be available, and that's a blow."

Reyna's knee is still swollen so surgery on his knee can’t start for at least 2 weeks. He has gone to his home country to hopefully cure his problems.
