Vieira ruled out of Blues' tie
Sat 11th January 2003, 16:13

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled midfield Velcro and skipper Patrick Vieira out of Sunday's Premiership tie against Birmingham City.

This is because the French international has been disturbed by a groin injury and he recently returned France in the midweek.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's Swedish forward Frederick Ljungberg was still ruled out by Wenger inasmuch as Ljungberg is still suffering from an Achilles problem.

A possible replacement for Vieira is Ray Parlour who had gave good account of himself in his previous matches.

Pascal Cygan and Matthew Upson are back to action, so Wenger may not have problems with choice first-choice replacement.
