Celtic 1-0 Blackburn Rovers

Celtic win 1-0 after Henrik Larsson's late strike giving them the advantage going into the 2nd leg at Ewood Park.

The battle of Britain was not a classic as both teams didn’t create many chances but it was the Celtic striker Henrik Larrson who got the winner with 6 minutes remaining. A corner from Thompson came in which Hartson got a strong header to but O'Neil blocked on the line and Henrik Larsson connected to the rebound to give Celtic the win.

Andy Cole was left on the bench after returning from injury while Damien Duff did start and latest for 65 minutes before being replaced by David Dunn.

Didier Agathe had a cross, which was Petrov headered but was brilliantly saved by an in form American Goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
Blackburn didn’t create many chances but the best did fall to David Thompson when a deflection fell kindly to David Thompson 16 yards out but he hit straight at Douglas who made a comfortable save.

The next tie at Ewood Park will set to be a classic as Blackburn knowing they will have to chase the game and Celtic will need to improve there performance.

Blackburn: Friedel, Neill, Short, Johansson, Taylor, Thompson, Flitcroft, Tugay, Duff, Ostenstad, Yorke. Subs: Dunn, Cole, Jansen, Grabbi, Kelly, Gillespie, Douglas.
