Mon 23rd December 2002, 15:08

Manchester City may sign Marseille player Djamel Belmadi as the 26-year-old midfielder is expected to be involved in a trial with the English Club.

It is likely that with reference to the outcome of the trial, if positive, City will sign Belmadi immediately the transfer market opens in January next year.

Furthermore, Marseille boss Alain Perrin stated that the trial with Belmadi to the Main Road Club was successful and that there is no doubt that City will sign the midfielder in January.

After joining City, Belmadi may be an instrumental figure in the midfield that will flow better passes to striker Nicholas Anelka in order to get the goals coming.
