Fri 20th December 2002, 12:53

Chelsea instrumental player Gianfranco Zola has admitted plans to extend his contract and thus his career in Chelsea.

The former Italian international disclosed this after his side lost to Premiership giants Manchester United 1-0 in a Worthington Cup tie, that he and the club have had talks about extending his contract.

He said he is pleased with the club's approach and that he will be happy to stay at Stamford Bridge with the rest of his colleagues.

He also indicated that their lost to United has nothing to contradict their fighting spirit and that it was a good game, but the luckier side won.

Chelsea are placed 3rd in the league behind United and defending champions Arsenal.
