Cole charged for abusing ref
Wed 4th December 2002, 15:35

Arsenal defender Ashley Cole has been charged by the English FA for an alleged abuse on the referee in Arsenal's match against Southampton last weekend.

The referee in charge of that match was Paul Durkin in a game that saw Arsenal loosing 2-3 to Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium in the 23rd day of November.

The FA admitted that Cole's case is been referenced to the rule which oversees throwing abusive words on language to a match official which Cole did as stated by them.

The England left-back has been given 14 days to rejoinder to the charge and they await his comments.

The FA are still deliberating on the issue and Cole has not been isolated in Arsenal's important game with Manchester United at Highbury.
