Collins To Leave Cottagers In Winter
Thu 28th November 2002, 19:26

Jean Tigana has confirmed that Fulham midfielder John Collins will be leaving in January on a free transfer.

The veteran Collins has been at the London club for 2 years now, but has stuggled to get into the team this season, only starting 4 games- all of which in cup competitions. His only premiership appearances have 2 appearances from the bench. This is down to him wanting to play in central midfield, where there is a range of players to chose, as opposed to the left side, where there is only Malbranque.

Collins is a personal friend of Jean Tigana, even before signing for Fulham from Everton. Collins played under Tigana at Monaco. But with his contract running out soon, Tigana decided to let him go.

In the forthcoming transfer window, Collins will be released and is expected to sign for a premiership team, rumours say that he will join premiership improvers Sunderland to ease their injury crisis somewhat.
