Wed 20th November 2002, 15:11

It has been revealed that Newcastle midfielder Hugo Viana developed a knee injury after their 2-1 win over Southampton.

This was noticed during a training session with his Portuguese teammates and was disclosed by Portuguese doctor Enrique Jones.

Newcastle will be hoping the Viana’s injury is not critical.

The Portuguese midfielder is expected to go through several scans to show the extent of the damage.
