Tigana To Leave Fulham
Submitted By Michael on Wednesday 26th March 2003

Fulham FC confirmed today that they will not be renewing the contracts of Jean Tigana, nor his coaching team.

There was much speculation regarding Tigana's future at Fulham, although many speculated that he would be leaving on his own accord and already had a club lined up.

Many now see this as Mohamed Al Fayed's way of saying that he hasn't been good enough and that he thinks they should be top half. This season has seen them in the bottom half, but safe from relegation.

The club statement said: "Fulham Football Club today announced that manager Jean Tigana's contract will not be extended beyond the end of this season. The contracts of assistant manager Christian Damiano and fitness coach Roger Propos are also not being renewed. A Fulham spokesman said that, while Tigana and his management team would be concentrating on ensuring the club's Premiership survival and progress up the league during the final seven games of the season, the search for a successor has already begun."

Al Fayed's decision has been met by laughter on many fronts, with his lack of ambition showing in his inability to buy the club a new stadium.

Tigana has been linked with the Crystal Palace job.
