Scholes thinks the players owe Ferguson

Paul Scholes, who has been in fine form recently, admitted that United owe Sir Alex Ferguson after the awful performance against Manchester City.
Scholes was perhaps the only player to emerge with some credit following the dismal performance against Manchester City and expressed disappointment at the outcome.
"We owe him a bit back because Saturday was disappointing,'' admitted the 27-year-old England international.
"It's the same as every game. We want to play well and keep our places in the team; if you don't, you will be out.''
However, the manager admitted that hardly any players would be dropped from the side that played in the derby match as the squad is short of numbers. Saturday's goalscorer Ole Gunna Solskjaer is most likely to be taken out the first team because Beckham has returned.
Ferguson inadvertently gave an insight into the reasons behind United found the opening games of the season harder than Arsenal or Liverpool.
"We have developed in Europe over the last three or four years,'' he said.
"There is a great focus on the European games. It is a tremendous challenge - the biggest challenge.
"It is more tactical and other teams are more aware of your strengths and weaknesses.
"Our players see it as a challenge and have reserved their best performances for it.
"Europe is what concerns us tomorrow, we have done very well in the competition recently and I expect another European performance.'' |
