Middlesbrough completed the signing of Bolton Wanderers striker Michael Ricketts with just half-an-hour for the transfer window to be closed.
Bolton yesterday confirmed that Michael Ricketts has joined the club for a £3.5million deal plus a percentage of future profits, thus securing the signature in the detriment of Tottenham Hotspur who were also in the chase.
It was noticed that Spurs made a player-exchange offer to Bolton, but was rejected by boss Sam Allardyce.
Ricketts has scored seven goals this season, but has also struggled to win a regular place in his team. He also has one cap for England to his advantage.
Meanwhile, Derby County duo Malcolm Christie and Chris Riggott had also joined Boro.
Boro manager Steve McClaren expressed his happiness with the signing of Ricketts and the Derby duo.
The Derby duo joined Boro for a combined fee that worth an initial payment of £3million, which may rise to £5million.
