Fergie To Stay On?

Less than a week after branding a fan and shareholder "stupid" at the annual meeting, Ferguson has spoken out saying he may not retire after all at the end of the season.
This is the second year in a row he has said this and will no doubt be a blow to the Manchester United board. Ferguson has made some substandard purchases recently, notably Juan Sebastian Veron for £28.8 million and the Rio Ferdinand deal. Since their purchases, Veron has been disappointing and Ferdinand regually injured and has no decent partnership at the club. His choice of Assistant manager has led people to believe there is a lack of passion at the club, and there is disconent inside the Man Utd camp. The team's league position is less than favourable and it would be financially disasterous if they finished the season lower than 2nd, which currently appears very likely. The board of course do not want to sack him as this would be poor financially too. The Man Utd fans are disappointed with recent performances and many want a change of management.
But despite all of this, he seems to insist on staying on. Whether it is for the best or not remains to be seen, but in certain areas of Manchester, the population will be less than satisfied. |
