FA Correct Keane Appeal
Submitted By Faz on Monday 4th November 2002

Roy Keane has until Friday to appeal against his 5-match ban and 150,000 fine after the Football Association confirmed it.

The Manchester United star had said he thought the appeal would be this Friday after it was first suggested the deadline would be last Friday.

Keane's legal representatives immediately claimed they had a letter dated October 25 and would have time to appeal until 8th November.

The ban would take effect from November 4, covering next Saturday's game against Manchester rivals, Manchester City and the clash with Liverpool at Anfield on December 1.

Roy Keane is currently recovering from a hip operation and was expected back for the game against Leverkusen in the champions league but his return will be delayed.

``He isn't as far forward as we thought he would be,'' said the United boss. ``He is still a few weeks away.

``There is a long remedial period with this type of injury and he had done a lot of hard work, so we decided to give him a break last week.

``He needed a break because sometimes he can push himself a bit hard but he is back doing some good work again.''
