Chelsea keeper Mark Bosnich remained tight lipped as newspapers continued to allege that he tested positive of taking cocaine.
The News of the World claimed on Sunday that he Aussie goalkeeper was the unnamed Premiership player who was at the centre of the rumours circulation around football over the past weeks.
Bosnich supposedly took a drug test on Monday, conducted by UK Sport which was leaked to the News of the World.
Bosnich refused to speak out, which may tell us more about the truth behind the allegations than if he did speak. However, Chelsea has issued the following statement: "We cannot comment on the allegations of drug violation made against one of our players.
"Any testing undertaken is in accordance with the doping regulations laid down by the football authorities and remains a private matter between the club, the player and the football authorities."
Yesterday an FA spokesman said: "We cannot confirm or deny whether or not a test has been carried out.
"We do not discuss anything to do with the FA's drug-testing programme."
If Bosnich is found guilty of taking the class A, recreational drug he could face a lengthy suspension but whether his $42,000 a week contract is terminated is anyone's guess as the club could very well support him and back him during the difficult time he is going through. |
