Wenger: Bergkamp will travel
Submitted By Ndubuisi on Monday 24th February 2003

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has overtly disclosed his readiness to make Dennis Bergkamp travel to Holland prior to Arsenal's Champions League game against Dutch giants Ajax.

Due to the injury of Nwankwo Kanu, which will rule out the Nigerian for up to two weeks, the French tactician has no other option but to make Bergkamp - who does not travel - to play in Wednesday's return leg at Ajax. Meanwhile, in the first leg a Highbury, a week ago, the Gunners drew 1-1 with the Dutch boys at Higbury.

Bergkamp has only travelled once since this season, and that was against PSV Eindhoven, in a Champions league first phase encounter.

While indicating the imperativeness of the tie at Amsterdam, Wenger revealed that Bergkamp would travel to Holland early enough so that he will be able to rest enough before the match.
